Episode #3 – House Of M(other’s Day)

30 05 2009

It was Mother’s Day around the time of our third podcast, so we decided to peruse Marvel’s epic event comic about a mother’s love for her imaginary kids. It’s the “House of M” trade paperback, by Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel. Our verdict? Listen to the damn podcast and find out.

We also discuss fun times had with mindless butchery in the “X Men Origins Wolverine” video game, gently mock “Doctor Who Classics,” and investigate Jimmy Olsen’s brief stint as a polygamist in a Masterpiece Comic Book Theatre skit taken from “The Amazing Transformations of Jimmy Olsen.”

Episode #2 – Free Comic Book Day

30 05 2009

This year’s Free Comic Book Day was just chockablock with free stuff. We celebrated by picking up as much of it as we could carry, reading it, and reviewing it. Yes, that’s right, gentle readers–we reviewed free comics to verify their quality! That’s the kind of service and dedication you can rely on here at the Mild Mannered Podcast.

After a live recording session at our local comic shop, an outpouring of unrequited love for Dax-Starr, and the debut of our recurring segment “Sam Bitches A Lot,” we get down to brass tacks and review “Scud the Disposable Assassin.” Plus, on Masterpiece Comic Book Theatre, special guests Matt and Carolyn perform a scene from “Ultimate Spider-Man”!
